Hello Scrappy Friends !!
Today I am sharing my project I made for my daughter’s 2nd grade class for Valentine’s Day.So my thought was to make a candy bouquet for each child in her class and the only way I could think to weight it down was the soda can so in March I called my local Kroger to order in 3 12 pks of Strawberry Crush ( love the hot pink soda cans , perfect for Valentine’s day) and I thought it would take a week or two to get in but they fill my order the very next , this is what I love about a small town , they are always willing to help you out. I had 20 to make so we bought enough to make 24 so she could hand out the rest to other special teacher that help her.Next I went shopping for candy to add to my bouquet , I chose chocolate hearts wrapped in red foil and smarties , we also picked up some frosted brownies to hand out too.
so let me tell you how I made this
Supplies : Tissue paper hot Pink , floral foam , chip board ,curling ribbon two colors of pink, soda , hot glue gun , bamboo skewers , sparkle tulle in red, glitter paper silver and hot pink , designer paper to match , Circle die , scallop punch ,label punch
first cut the tissue in 10 ” x 10″ squares , you need two and off set the squares , add a 2 1/2″ chipboard circle , this add stability
add a piece of floral foam 2″ by 2″ 3/4″ thick
fold up the side to gather around the center
tie your curling ribbon to hold the foam in but not cover it completely close , you will need to stick in your candy skewers and hot glue in the smarties
need the center to show some foam so you can add the candy skewers
I add hot glue all over the bottom and put on top of the soda can
this is my label
I
added a pink glitter circle and a silver glitter scallop , glued a gathered piece it tissue and added it on a 4 1/2″ wood skewer , this is my focal point and sentiment
I cut strips of glitter tulle to add behind my chocolate and glued on sticks at different lengths , poke them in the floral foam and the i add a tad bit of hot glue to end of smarties and held in place til cool
we also stamp our own paper hearts with” I’m sweet on U Valentine “ and stamped big Pink LIPS and stapled to out frosted brownie hearts .. In the past when I have made treats the kids just rip into them and these the kids wanted to keep in tack they just loved them .I’d say the kids made out and it was such a joy to see all the smiles on their faces and that my friend it what it’s all about : )
I hope I have inspired you to make something that makes you smile : )
Thanks for a great tutorial! Saving this idea, may need it someday.
