Hello scrappy friends !!
Today it was time to open up the glue dot factory , I was running very low so I thought it was time I show you how to I do this again. Why make you own you ask , well it is so much cheaper , you can make so many different sizes at the same time and you can customize them , say you find you need long dash , well you can do that.
the glue I use is called Aleene’s Tack It Over and Over , there are many glues Aleene’s make but it has to be this glue.
next I have a friend that brings me home label paper ( they use the sticker label and throw tons of this paper away a day ) I use the shiny side to make my glue dots on I have the paper long enough to but glue on one side and then once they are dry I fold over the blank side to cover for storage, if you don’t have this try cd cases , they close up and store nicely too. next I squeeze out many dots and don’t let them touch and then I set them aside for 24 hours , the dots are white when you start and as the dry they will turn clear , that is when you know they are done and you can close up the paper and store them .
this is what they look like when they are ready to use , I fold over the top flap to store them covered
next if you want to make you Cricut mats or your Silhouette mats sticky again , mix 50 /50 glue and water and store in a mini bowl with a lid , I use a sponge brush to apply to a clean mat , to clean the mat I take to sink and scrub the paper debris off with soap and water and let dry or you can use a baby wipe and alcohol and scrub it clean.Next you will paint a very very thin coat of the glue mixture ( it don’t take much ) and then let it dry an hour or so and you are ready to condition it , this is very important this mat will be too sticky and rip your paper if you skip this step , tack your hands all over the mat or a dish towel to make it a little less sticky , if you skip this step you will be crying later , you wont be able to get your project off the mat .
my mat is up in the air and its so sticky it hold to my hand ,
when I ran out of foam cling mount for my rubber stamps I put a thin coat of glue out of the bottle on the back of my red rubber and let it dry , now it will stick to my clear blocks to stamp
clings very well and will pull off to use over and over again
well I hope I have helped you out with some ideas and saved you some money on glue dots , new mats and cling mount , if you have questions I will be happy to help you out , leave a commit below and ill reply back with an answer.
Happy a Scrappy fun day !!
