Ai Thursday challenge # 77.. One Layer

August 23, 2012 By 8UpScrapin 8 Comments

Hello Ai Fans !!!
Today’s card was an awesome challenge ,  how can I  make an amazing card with only one layer ? I guess you start with amazing stamps , Ai has that covered ,so I will  show that you can create depth and dimension with shading and colors  and layering stamps.

I started with SU going grey card stock I stamped Spud (sku # 1557 ) mid center of my card

I then took copic marker W1 and went around the entire stamped image , this makes your stamp pop off the page ( I do this every time I stamp , I love the way it looks ) I learned this a CK convention last year and have been in love with this technique ever since .
then I stamped another image and cut it out for a masknext you use Elmer’s  repositionable glue stick to lay a thin tack layer on the back , I then placed it over my image
I then took a back ground stamp I had of news print and stamped it over the entire card
take the mask off and see what you have
I think it looks great and I have not even added color yet , I then took my copic markers and colored my focal image in  , the white is a Tim Holtz picket fence marker ( love- love -love this marker ) another CK convention find  , its hard to tell by the picture but I used  Gelly roll clear star glitter pen on a couple of place on this card , it adds bling without saying girlie card : ) I sponged Stampin Up soft suede to antique up the edges.
I hope you will give this a try and I am sure you will love it as much as I do. Don’t you think this card turned out great and not a single ribbon ,brad or anything… crazy how a single layer can look like it pops off the page…

Supplies :  Art Impressions Spud ( sku # 1557 ) , Paper Trey Ink News print background stamp , Copics , Tim Holtz picket fence marker ,Gelly roll clear star glitter  pen  , Elmer’s  repositionable glue stick , SU card stock in Going Grey , SU soft suede ink
Hope you have an 8UpScrapin Day !!!

Thanks for showing us the great tutorial and all the helpful techniques. You made Spud jump off the card! Looks like he has all he needs – drink, food and remote! Lol!!

Great card…great tutorial! When I first looked at your card, I thought you painted a white base over printed designer paper and then stamped your image…duh, so glad you cleared that up!
